“Hypnobirthing is the only thing I know that actually makes a difference to your experience of giving birth. I cannot promise the perfect birth. Nothing can, and to do so would be ridiculous and not true. However my experience is that KG Hypnobirthing always makes a difference, and a very big difference too." - Katharine Graves, Founder of KG Hypnobirthing, the leading provider of Hypnobirthing courses in the UK.I would love to hear from you and help to make a difference in your pregnancy, birth and beyond. Hello, my name is Sophie, I am a mother of two incredible children and a certified KG Hypnobirthing teacher. From my own experiences of using Hypnobirthing with my two children, I wanted to help other families to have the same empowering and positive births, and this was my inspiration for creating Mamas in Bloom. In February 2020, I became a Mama when I gave birth to my first son and discovered the huge impact that Hypnobirthing could have. My experience of birth was empowering, happy and a memory that my husband and I will never forget. I was able to labour mostly at home and then transfer to my local Birth Centre to give birth as we had planned. I remained very calm and focused throughout labour using my Hypnobirthing and breathing techniques, and when I arrived at the Birth Centre I felt confident that I was ready to push almost immediately. Much to the Midwive's surprise, and despite my calm appearance, I was right! Our son was born in two pushes and within 3 minutes of our arrival, without the need for any medical intervention or pain relief, and purely using Hypnobirthing techniques to support my body, mind and baby to know exactly what they needed to do.

My first experience of birth gave me the confidence to later plan a home birth with my daughter in 2023, and using my Hypnobirthing knowledge and tools, she arrived safely in the comfort of our own home after a very short labour. In fact my labour progressed so quickly, that my husband and I actually delivered our baby girl ourselves before medical support could arrive. We felt so in control and relaxed the second time round and this 'free birth', without any medical professionals present, was another incredibly empowering experience, thanks to the information that we had learnt through Hypnobirthing. I strongly believe that this can be the positive and calm experience that all parents have when welcoming their baby into the world, and I hope that Mamas in Bloom can help as many families as possible to also achieve the best possible birth for them.

I now offer Hypnobirthing courses, antenatal and parenting support through Mamas in Bloom, that is bespoke to every parent and baby, and my approach is also rooted in my professional background in Psychology, mental health and neurodiversity. All of my courses can be adapted to suit the needs of each family, to help you prepare for the best possible outcomes for you and your baby, and to truly ‘bloom’ into parenthood.Wishing you all the best for your pregnancy, birth and beyond, and I look forward to hopefully meeting you very soon!
In my courses, I will share information and practical KG Hypnobirthing techniques that are simple, logical and based on the science of birth and Hypnotherapy. It is recommended that parents can attend Hypnobirthing courses from around 20 weeks pregnant or in the second trimester, and the more time you have to practice the techniques before birth, the better! However it is never too early or late to start, so please contact me if you are unsure about when to book. The Hypnobirthing courses can be delivered in person/online and either privately (in your home) or in group classes. The full course is approximately 12 hours teaching time in total, which can be divided flexibly at times to best suit you (e.g. 4 x 3hour sessions, 6 x 2hour evening sessions, 2 x 6hour weekend sessions).Areas covered for in person classes include: Petts Wood, Orpington, Chislehurst, Sidcup, Bexley, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Swanley, and surrounding SE London boroughs (Croydon, Bromley, Bexley, Lewisham, Greenwich) and North Kent.Details of course content and costs are as below:

Why KG Hypnobirthing?
KG Hypnobirthing is the original UK Hypnobirthing course for parents, and is widely used by NHS professionals and midwives. The course is constantly evolving with the latest research and evidence to provide the most up-to-date Hypnobirthing knowledge and tools. The course also gives you information on your options for birth and the implications of the choices you make, giving you the confidence to navigate the system to achieve the best outcome for you and your baby. Are online sessions as effective as in-person?
Online courses are just as effective as in-person and also offer the flexibility of being able to attend from any location. For many, online courses are more accessible and comfortable, whilst still allowing for interaction, discussion and personalised support.Does the birth partner need to come to the hypnobirthing course too?
If possible, it is recommended that birth partners also attend the course, but this is not compulsory and some mothers do attend alone. The course includes lots of information and advice on the role of a birth partner, how important it is and the difference that a birth companion can make. For couples in a relationship, practising the techniques together and supporting each other in the birth of their baby brings them closer together. This often deepens the connection between couples as well as the bond with their new baby.Does the fee cover both of us?
Yes, there is no additional charge for the birth partner to attend and this can be any close friend or family member supporting you in pregnancy and when you give birth. Please note that birth professionals (including doulas) will incur an additional charge -please contact me for further information on this. How many couples are there in the group classes?
The size of the groups classes vary but are most often between 3-5 couples (or up to 10 people in total). A maximum of 6 couples are accepted for each group course. The groups are kept small enough to be personal and large enough to be friendly. You can meet other like-minded expectant couples, exchange ideas, and learn from their experiences and questions. Is Hypnobirthing only for natural or home births?
No, hypnobirthing is beneficial for all types of births and the information and tools will help you to feel calm, confident and in control, whatever path your birth takes. Whether this be induced or spontaneous labour, vaginal or caesarean, medicated or unmedicated, home, birth centre or hospital.Does Hypnobirthing guarantee a pain-free birth?
No approach can guarantee a pain-free birth, but hypnobirthing can significantly reduce fear, tension and anxiety for mothers and their birth partners. By doing so, hypnobirthing aims to reduce the perception of pain and improve the overall birth experiences for parents and baby.Is it too late to do Hypnobirthing if I am close to my 'due date'?
It is never too late, and even a condensed or 'refresher' course can be beneficial to provide valuable information, tools and confidence before birth. Please contact me directly to discuss options further.
KG Hypnobirthing is the leading provider in the UK of Hypnobirthing courses and a number of positive birth stories and reviews can be found on the KG Hypnobirthing website. Below are some examples:“It’s a whole other level of surrendering and trusting your body totally, and we spent months focusing on letting go of fear, learning everything we could about birth, so that we felt as educated and informed about every step of the process and every decision along the way.”
-Ella Mills."I really do use the word 'wonderful' to describe the birth of our baby, and I know there are so few women who are lucky enough to do that. I believe so strongly in the power of positive thought and the strength of hypnobirthing - we put in a lot of practice, and it really paid off."
-Diana & Thomas."For me, before I read, and then watched, your course, I assumed hypnobirthing=hippy and un-scientific. I am very happy that, thanks to the recommendation of my sister, I persevered and instead I found your course highly relevant, informative and valuable. I went into my third delivery the most empowered and informed, I felt confident to stay home longer and felt the most present and engaged with the pregnancy. Instead of fighting to survive the contractions, I understood the function of the surges and used the breathing techniques to keep myself focused and calm and relaxed (or as relaxed as possible!)"
-Hannah.
